Element Competition Cans were developed out of necessity for the rigors of road racing 500+ HP Subarus.  Time Attack Competition demands the absolute most out of an engine with boost levels of 30 psi, power in excess of 500, and 8000 rpm all taxing the crankcase evacuation system.  Without proper crankcase evacuation and air/oil separation, excessive pressure in the crankcase and intake air oil contamination often result in detonation.

Off the shelf "catch cans" weren't performing well to separate the crankcase oil vapors at high velocity.  Often we found the intercooler and charge pipes full of oil but very little accumulation in the actual catch catch.  This is primarily due to a system not properly designed for high HP Subaru applications.  Exacerbating the problem were small breather ports in the 1/4 to 1/2" range that were not adequate at 500 HP.  Engines built with forged internals often have even higher crankcase pressure compounding the problem.

&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: xx-small; color: #5b5b5b;"&gt;Since the majority of Element Tuning customers have extensive modifications such as larger bolt-on turbochargers like the GT52 or GT49 we designed this exhaust system to exploit that by running the 3&rdquo; dowpipe&rsquo;s centerline on the exhaust wheel and the 2&rdquo; wastegate dump tube&rsquo;s centerline with the wastegate flapper valve.  The other item we altered from the norm was a divider at the turbocharger flange.  The reason we did this was that we found in testing that it hurt wastegate performance since the majority of the aftermarket turbochargers swing open in a fashion that dumps wastegate exhaust directly into the divider hurting flow.  This is often why &ldquo;bellmouth&rdquo; designs have better boost pressure control.  Also by forgoing this divider, the system will work with turbochargers that have a divided exhaust housing from the factory. &lt;/span&gt;

&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: xx-small; color: #5b5b5b;"&gt;The two piece downpipe design allows us to adapt this exhaust for use in newer applications but more importantly it allows us to offer a bolt-in 50 state legal catalytic converter in the most ideal location for maintaining maximum HP.  We'll continue to test various catalytic converters and when we find one that maximizes flow we'll offer this as an option for those who would like to remain "green" or want extra noise suppression.&lt;/span&gt;

The Element Tuning exhaust system is like nothing on the market and is 5" of T304 stainless steel goodness! What separates our downpipe from the rest is that we chose to do something new with the divorced wastegate design. The GT52 has done so well we figured it was going to be really hard to beat.&nbsp; With that said we are not out to replace it but instead offer something larger for those who are on the edge of purchasing a rotated kit.&nbsp; The biggest difference between the 52 and the 65 would be a more heavily modified Garrett turbine wheel and a 65 lbs compressor wheel stuffed into a 3&rdquo; compressor cover, a heavily ported 8cm turbine housing, and 19 psi internal gate fitted standard. Unlike the GT52 the GT65 requires TGV deletes and a 3&rdquo; silicon inlet for installation.

The GT49 is based on the Mitsubishi TD06 7cm frame but is modified to accept a Garrett compressor wheel.&nbsp; This turbocharger utilizes a Garrett 49 lbs compressor wheel, and a TD06 Turbine wheel modified for higher flow and creep-free performance.&nbsp; A 2.4" inlet is machined and ported to allow for easier installation and higher performance.

Typically 20 psi is reached by 3400-3600 rpm tuning with the Hydra and pump gas.&nbsp; Pump gas power is in the 350-375 whp range. Both housings are completely ported for increased flow and wastegate performance.

Race gas power is in the 450-460 whp range.&nbsp; Expect to achieve full boost with the proper modications and tuning between 3500-3700rpms. Fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management are required.

Element GT bolt-on turbochargers include extensive porting of the turbine housing inlet, outlet, and wastegate passages.&nbsp; The wastegate passage is also enlarged and the turbine wheel modified to improve internal wastegate performance and creep free running.

All Element GT bolt on turbochargers are water cooled and come complete with water lines and an OEM oil drain line so installation is a direct bolt-on.

This turbocharger is very similar to many other 7cm TD06 20G framed bolt-ons        but that's where the comparison ends. In this particular turbocharger we        use a Garret GT30R 52 lbs compressor wheel, Garrett turbine wheel and        shaft. The compressor is a GT30R rated at 52 lbs utilizing an internal        wastegate.

Typically we see 20 psi by 3600-3800 rpm tuning with the Hydra with pump gas power in the 375-400 whp range. Both housings are completely ported for increased flow and  wastegate performance. Race gas power is in the 475-500whp range.  Expect to achieve full boost with the proper modifications and a quality tune between 3500-4000rpms. Fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management are required.

The Element GT52 has been        recently updated to increase internal wastegate performance.&nbsp;        Increased port work, larger wastegate port, and a larger wastegate valve        has been utilized to ensure boost creep free performance.

Element GT bolt-on turbochargers include extensive porting of the turbine housing inlet, outlet, and wastegate passages.&nbsp; The wastegate passage is also enlarged and the turbine wheel modified to improve internal wastegate performance and creep free running.

All Element GT bolt on turbochargers are water cooled and come complete with water lines and an OEM oil drain line so installation is a direct bolt-on.
